2011 Kawasaki KFX450R ATV

A full featured sport ATV with race ready technology
You’ll know you’re on a powerful ride from the moment you push the KFX®450R’s electric starter. Having a lightweight aluminum frame, long lower front A-arm suspension and a fully adjustable rear shock, this ATV offers track winning handling and confidence-inspiring stability to compliment its powerful engine.
Sharing engine features with the highly acclaimed KX™450F motocrosser, the KFX450R is ready to race. Equipped with titanium valves to keep reciprocating weight low, the engine is fitted with a highly responsive 32-bit digital fuel injection (DFI®) system that automatically compensates for temperature or altitude.
DFI enhances the KFX450R’s ability to translate its four-stroke power into outstanding thrust, with easily accessible torque in the low- and medium-rpm ranges. The fast and reliable KFX450R ATV also includes a lightweight reverse gear system integrated with its five-speed manual transmission. The KFX450R’s reverse gear allows riders to quickly and easily extricate themselves from first turn chaos, trail bottlenecks or any other on-track incident, using the normal shift lever, plus a convenient handlebar mounted lock-out lever.
Built to handle tough trail conditions and win races, the KFX450R’s lightweight all-aluminum frame has both incredible stiffness and significant strength. The high-tech chassis also provides a low center of gravity and excellent roll resistance for higher corner speeds and race-level handling.
The front suspension design utilizes long lower A-arms mounted to a single box-section lower frame tube, paired with dual-rate front springs for excellent rough-terrain handling. In the rear, an adjustable shock with low- and high-speed compression and rebound damping adjustability is mated to a cast aluminum swingarm that offers the ideal balance of flexibility and rigidity. Regardless of track surfaces or conditions, this race-oriented chassis makes the KFX450R ATV a potent weapon.
The KFX450R ATV is easy to work on, so owners can spend more time in the dirt than in the garage. The two-piece front and rear “lapped” fenders make it easier to customize the size of the fenders or quickly replace damaged sections. Even the headlight assembly is quickly detachable for closed-course races — this ATV looks just as aggressive with or without headlights. These features leave little doubt that the KFX450R was designed to be on the track and winning races as quickly as possible.
Owners can customize their KFX450R, using a full line of Authentic Kawasaki Accessories from their local Kawasaki dealer.
As with all off-highway vehicle recreation, Kawasaki encourages ATV riders to ride responsibly and to respect the environment. Kawasaki will pay first-time buyers of a new Kawasaki ATV $100 for completing an ATV rider safety course conducted by the ATV Safety Institute (ASI).

 Key Features:

• Compact reverse-lock release lever can be activated with the right thumb, allowing the reverse gear to be engaged while still keeping the front brake lever depressed
• The combined weight of the reverse gear system and the lightweight aluminum chassis is no heavier than a steel frame without reverse

Aluminum Chassis
• Highly rigid frame contributes to the KFX’s excellent handling and traction
• The aluminum frame’s high torsional rigidity enhances stability in corners and allows the suspension to be easily set up to suit course conditions
• Designed for high corner speeds, the KFX450R sits low to the ground, helping to reduce roll tendencies
• Mounting the battery and coolant tank ahead of the engine lowers the center of gravity, and helps weight the front wheels for increased traction
• Single box-tube lower frame contains the front A-arm attachment points. This narrower design enables the use of longer lower A-arms

Advanced Suspension Design
• Dual-rate front springs deliver progressive suspension travel for excellent rough-terrain handling
• Extra-long lower front A-arms minimize camber variations through the suspension stroke, maximize front wheel traction and boost stability
• Rear shock features both low
• and high-speed compression adjustability and adjustable rebound damping

2011 Kawasaki Vulcan 1700 Vaquero | UPDATED

When Kawasaki chose to do a press launch for its new Vulcan bagger in a semi-rural enclave north of Houston, Texas, it's entirely possible the location was chosen for its proximity to a population of Stetson-topped ranch hands-you know, for background scenery. After all, 'vaquero' means cowboy in Spanish.
2011 Kawasaki Vulcan 1700 Vaquero V Twin Photo
Nothing about cowboys on steel horses, nothing about how important it was for Team Green to be angling into the lucrative custom bagger segment. In fact, they framed the Vaquero as more of a stepping stone between its cruisers-the Vulcan Classic, for example-and touring bikes-say, the Voyager. So much for tapping into romantic stereotypes...

Saddle Up
Hoist a leg over the sleek, 28.7 inch-tall saddle, and you'll experience what Kawasaki calls an "expanded rider triangle." The Vaquero's floorboards are more forward, like the Nomad's, and its all-new, one-piece seat is also set up to accept an optional rider backrest and quick-release passenger backrest.

Because of serious buffeting issues on previous casual bagger rides, I found myself dreading the highway sections; that chopped wind 'deflector'-its shape chosen, says Kawasaki, "to optimize styling,"-looked none too reassuring. Instead, I found the large fairing and that 6-inch piece of plastic actually did a decent job in pushing the wind off my chest without much buffeting in the process (though taller riders may beg to differ). When I switched to a taller accessory shield after lunch, I could tuck underneath it just a bit, and experience almost dead calm. I'm guessing much of this had to do with Kawasaki's funky chin fairing, which seemed to diminish the dirty air from below quite a bit. Riders can also choose from one of five optional screens (6.5 inches through 18 inches tall) to tame pesky gusts if they're so inclined.

2011 Kawasaki KLR 650

2011 Kawasaki KLR 650

2011 Kawasaki KLR 650
The Durable Machine to Take Around the World – or Just Down the Block
For the adventurer whose sense of fun includes a jaunt into the dirt or an expedition deep into the woods, the KLR™650 opens up a world of possibilities. Equally at home on Forest Service roads as it is on the interstate, the KLR650 is the motorcycle you want when your travel plans take you through all sorts of terrain, off-road or on. Its sturdy single-cylinder engine provides non-stop power and incredible fuel efficiency. Comfortable wind protection and a 5.8-gallon fuel tank ensure that riders can go a long way between stops. An aluminum rear cargo rack has plenty of space to accommodate saddlebags or a tail bag as well. It’s a package that multitudes of riders have flocked to: the KLR650 has been the best-selling dual-sport six years in a row.
The single-cylinder, 651cc four-stroke engine provides the muscle for this world traveling powerhouse. This all-around performer provides quick throttle response and healthy low-end grunt – ideal for trails or dealing with traffic snarls.
Matching the engine’s abilities every step of the way is the KLR650’s suspension. A 41mm fork with 7.9-inches of suspension travel up front, and a Uni-Trak® linkage system providing 7.3-inches of wheel travel in the rear combine to make the KLR650 a fun, functional commuter during the week and an adept backroad blaster on weekends.
Braking duties are handled by a dual-piston caliper gripping a 280mm petal-style disc at the front, and a 240mm petal-style disc squeezed by a single-piston caliper at the rear. This suspension and brake package boosts the KLR650’s on-road performance without diminishing its versatile off-road capabilities.
An expansive, saddlebag-friendly, rear luggage rack that can be fitted with a tail bag helps to make the KLR650 a worthy touring companion. A large, 5.8-gallon fuel tank and exemplary fuel economy mean the KLR650 can cover an amazing amount of ground between fill-ups.
That fuel range can translate into a long day in the saddle, so good wind protection is a must. This important job is handled by the frame-mounted bodywork, which includes a tall windscreen and large shrouds. Rider comfort is enhanced further by the seat design and plush urethane foam. A high-capacity 36-watt alternator pumps out enough juice for a high-output headlight and has the extra capacity to power the add-on electronic gadgets that no touring rider can live without.
The KLR650’s competent on-road performance continues once the pavement stops. A tough engine guard keeps loose rocks and gravel at bay, while its U.S. Forest Service-approved spark arrestor grants the KLR650 access to any terrain open to licensed vehicles. Add the optional Kawasaki tank, tail and saddlebags, and you have a recipe for long-distance exploration, beckoning KLR650 owners to enjoy on- and off-road adventures.
Authentic Kawasaki Accessories are available through Kawasaki dealers.

2011 Kawasaki KLR 650 motorcycle model Technology

Engine

Liquid-cooled, 651cc, DOHC, 4-valve, single cylinder engine features a super broad torque curve for the widely varied uses of a dual sport motorcycle.

Double engine balancers keep the engine running smoothly from idle to redline for best rider comfort and less fatigue on long rides.

Ratchet-type, automatic camchain tensioner keeps cam timing “spot-on”.

Free breathing, 4-valve cylinder head boosts low end torque and provides maximum valve area for optimum flow at highway speeds.

Revised cam timing contributes to improved high-rpm performance.

New intake porting offers greater low-end torque.

New piston rings are thinner and have more tension, resulting in a significant reduction in oil consumption.

New, fully transistorized CD Ignition unit replaces the earlier analogue CDI for better ignition performance.

New, higher output alternator (14.5 ? 17.0 Amps) meets the electrical accessory needs of touring riders.

New regulator offers improved performance.

New Denso radiator is thin and lightweight. Fitted with a lightweight and thin cooling fan, the new radiator has a greater cooling area and offers a 20% increase in cooling efficiency. (10% due to more densely packed cores; 10% due to the larger area.)

The more even running temperatures achieved with liquid cooling ensures long engine life and no “power fade” on hot days.

Smooth-shifting 5-speed transmission has a gear for every situation, from low-speed trails to highway touring use.

The transmission features Kawasaki’s exclusive positive neutral finder that makes selecting neutral at stoplights a breeze. At a stop, just lift up on the shifter from first gear and the transmission stops at neutral – every time.

Chassis

The KLR650 has been Canada’s number one selling* dual-sport model for as long as anyone remembers. It outsells the next highest selling dual-sport model (our own KLX250) nearly two to one. The remaining dual-sport models just don’t compete.

Look around during your next weekend ride –the question isn’t “if” you’ll see a KLR650 but “how many”? With something this good and this popular, you don’t make changes without knowing what you’re doing – Kawasaki definitely knows.

Extensive rider research and Kawasaki technical know-how have been combined to produce a fully modernized version of this cultural icon yet it retains all of the exciting flavor and value of the original KLR650. Get your helmet, we’ve got a big country to explore.

2011 Kawasaki Z750R

Kawasaki say they’re gunning for the Street Triple R with the new Z750R, but it ultimately lacks excitement and you don’t get the kind of performance you want from a 750 or an ‘R’ tagged bike. It seems the marketing men have gone a bit giddy with that badge. If you’re expecting a smaller version of the excellent new Z1000, you’re going to be disappointed.

Engine
The 105bhp, liquid-cooled, 16v, inline-four cylinder 748cc motor is unchanged from the standard Z750’s. It’s fun enough when you’re in the mood, but you have to scream it for best results, as there’s little grunt to speak of. Overall, the motor feels flat, bland and breathless, more like a 600 than what you’d expect from a 750. Top speed is restricted by the size of your neck muscles. In the real world, that’s around 90mph.To put that into perspective, it’s a massive 45bhp down on a GSX-R750 and lacks the Suzuki’s midrange too. OK, it’s not fair to compare a budget middleweight (although costing seven grand  it’s not that budget) with one of the best sports bikes on the planet, but the Z750R shouldn’t be that far off, especially when you consider the Street Triple R has similar power to the Daytona 675.

Ride and Handling
The Z750R features new forks (taken from the ’09 Z1000), rear shock, wheels, a lighter aluminium swingarm and radial Nissin four-piston front calipers. These new parts should offer a slight improvement in handling and braking over the standard Z750, but we haven’t ridden the two models back-to-back. What makes the riding experience so uninspiring is the Z750R’s weight. The non-ABS version, which we get in the UK, is 224kg wet, that’s 6kg more than the Z1000 and only 5kg lighter than a fully-fuelled BMW R1200GS.

Equipment
Chassis-mods aside, the Z750R is quite basic and doesn’t even come with fully-adjustable suspension, which is something you’d expect from an ‘R’ model. It does get a new dash and nose fairing, though. Compare and buy parts for the Z750 in the MCN Shop.

Quality and Reliability
There’s no reason to doubt the Z750R will go on-and-on, but the sheer weight of the machine suggests it’s not exactly made from the best components and materials money can buy.

Value
The Z750R is £500 more than the base model, but for newbie Kawasaki fans, you’re best heading for the brilliant ER-6N, which is lighter, has more character, is much more fun, no slower in the real world and a useful £1500 cheaper.  If you’re more experienced and want more big bang for your buck and smiles aplenty, the similarly-priced Triumph Street Triple R is still the Daddy.
